The ensemble at the Glatthof roundabout creates a distinctive urban gateway along Schaffhauserstrasse. Rising from a continuous plinth, compact monolithic building volumes respond to traffic and aircraft noise while simultaneously forming a protected residential courtyard within. Two linear buildings define a clearly framed neighborhood square and are complemented by point towers that mediate the transition to the finer-grained surrounding context.
The apartments are consistently oriented toward the quiet inner courtyard, while ancillary spaces facing the street create a spatial buffer zone. Deeply recessed loggias further reinforce the sheltered character of the façades. In the spirit of simple and robust construction, the project is composed of precisely articulated building volumes with solid single-leaf walls, characteristic window reveals, and a calm, timeless material expression.
