On the grounds of the Lindenhof, which was built at the turn of the century in Berlin-Lichtenberg in a park-like setting, a new residential district has been developed. The listed buildings of the former children's hospital serve as the site’s hub and as the starting point of the urban development. The residential houses developed by Max Dudler and KSP Architekten take the courtyard structure of the pre-existing buildings and regroup them into an entirely new and unique ensemble. On each of the three sites, a U-shaped main building is flanked by a single freestanding one. The resulting courtyards unite the ensemble from a design point of view, with each courtyard forming its own individual entity. As neighbourhood courtyards, they represent a contrast to the expansive public park. The restrained architectural vocabulary of the new buildings follows the rational design of the existing buildings, continuing the uniform window grid.
