Located in a central urban area of Ludwigshafen, the design acts as a calm urban building block, mediating between the surrounding city spaces of Berliner Platz, Friedrich-Wilhelm-Wagner-Platz, Henry-Roos-Passage, and St. Ludwig's Church. The staggered structure develops a distinctive head building facing Berliner Platz, thereby creating a powerful counterpart to the buildings opposite. At the same time, the stepped volume establishes a sense of proportional balance with the built environment. Retail spaces planned on the ground floor activate the square, while the office spaces on the upper floors ensure a functional mix and secure the economic vitality of the area. The terraces created by the stepped design offer valuable outdoor areas for users. The façade’s materiality reflects the architectural tradition of Ludwigshafen. Horizontal workstone bands in the color of Neckar Valley sandstone articulate the vertical wall panels with their reddish clinker brick surfaces, floor by floor. The courtyard façades, rooftop technical enclosures, and the roof surfaces themselves are extensively greened. As green biotopes, they contribute to improving the urban climate.
