The Ulm City Museum is situated on the historic marketplace, surrounded by gabled and eaves-fronted roofs that define the character of the area. The museum comprises a series of internally connected, individual structures, creating a harmonious interplay between past and present. The volumetric design of the extension integrates seamlessly into its surroundings, establishing a clear and inviting entrance through its monolithic form. The roofscape, featuring three gabled pitched roofs and an orthogonally rotated gable roof, introduces a distinctive architectural accent to the ensemble. The façade, articulated with staggered window openings, fosters a harmonious dialogue with the neighboring buildings. The use of infra-lightweight concrete emphasizes the sculptural quality of the building, enabling a construction that is both elegantly minimal and sustainably executed.
