The goal of the redevelopment of the Deutsche Bank site in Frankfurt am Main is to produce a new, open city district that combines housing, work, shopping and leisure. The four heterogeneous tower blocks are grouped around a central district square. They develop a continuous succession of increasing height from left to right. The façades’ materials follow the same rotating principle: clockwise the proportion of glass increases in relation to the stone. Ultimately, the highest tower, at 228 meters, is T1, which consists entirely of glass. As an office and hotel tower, it forms the distinctive, urban focus for the new ensemble. The towers T2 and T3 provide residential housing, while T4 houses further office space. Retail premises and gastronomy are located on the lower floors, oriented toward the district square. The historical structures are integrated as a connecting base construction in the new buildings. The design clearly organises the base and tower structures. The façade design creates a clear and logical transition from the bases to their towers.
