The Gustav Heinemann Footbridge (Gustav-Heinemann-Brücke) connects the park landscape of the Spreebogen with the southern square in front of the Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Two extremely slim, light-coloured Vierendeel trusses with light tint and a wooden pathway suspended between them creates a long, elegant bridge. As a place of transition, the restrained design adapts to its urban environment. Today the bridge, calculated by the foot traffic on its main segment, is one of Berlin’s busiest.
