An ensemble of four buildings dominated by a striking tower takes shape around an urban square in the vicinity of Wiesbaden’s Kurhaus. Echoing the trope of the campanile, the high-rise turns the spotlight on this location as part of downtown Wiesbaden’s pentagonal urban layout. Around the square two adjacent buildings, both listed, and dating from 1907 and 1952, will be restored and extended. Together with a further new-build structure, which picks up on the high-rise’s pentagon shape, the Kureck Ensemble creates a fitting entrance to the new urban quarter on the slopes of the Adolfsberg. The newly articulated square opens up to the park-like, car-free residential district via a generously dimensioned stone staircase. The tower block accommodates housing from the fourth floor up. The lower storeys, along with the neighbouring buildings, will contain office space and a hotel.
